Land is called Scotchtown; sold 1/5 part of 2 tracts; 1 of 70 acres, the other 95. 1839 2 Sept: Stephen Wandless bought from William Ayres & Martha his wife and Catherine Wandless 4/5 of 170 acres for $400. Searching for birthplace of Samuel Adams who married Anne Adams, daughter of William Adams (who immigrated to U.S. with James McCoun from Ireland) and Mary Walker. Samuel and Anne moved to Salt River in Mercer county, Ky about 1773 along with the McAfees, Anne Adams' parents, and Ashbys.
William Adams also had a son named Samuel who was in the original party of 6 or so, The McAfee company who left Virginia to explore the Ohio river and its' tributaries in May 1772, returning to Virginia in August, this Samuel is the brother in law of the Samuel who I am looking for.
This means these are two groups of Adams. I believe Samuel
b.c.1743, my
5th gg. immigrated from County Cavan, Ireland c.1758, and probably therefore
of the Cavan Adams, who immigrated to Ireland from Scotland c.1600 (Adam)
of Gordon, but am unable to find documented proof. Anne Adams' parents, William
Adams and Mary (Walker) and many of their children left Mercer County and
settled up the Wabash in Indiana and Illinois (See Ruby Cronk's work). Many
Adams in Illinois, Indiana, and Ohio are descended of these lines. My 4gg.,
Thomas b.1772, son of Samuel and Anne, m. Anne Ashby and moved
to Hopkins Cty., KY c1800 along with other Ashbys. Thomas was the 1st sheriff
of Hopkins in 1806. I have the nearly complete Bible records of my lineages
to
Thomas.

I can't thank everyone enough who has helped me with sorting out the Foglesong Family of the Shenandoah Valley and West Virginia. I am reposting my query to see if anyone can help me locate information on Catherine Foglesong, b. Sept 22, 1796 and her husband John Mayes (Mays). They were married in Bath County Virginia in January 1818. The marriage bond was issued on January 18, 1818 and the return was filed on January 23, 1818. The majority of Catherine's brothers and sisters moved in the 1820's to Mason County and Jackson County in what is West Virginia today.
Catherine, also had a sister Elizabeth Foglesong who
married Jacob
Minich in Bath County, VA in April 1819. The marriage bond was issued
on April 5, 1819. Her father George Foglesong consented for her,
and her brother John Foglesong was a witness. I have been unable
to locate information on them in Bath County or Mason. I have not really
focused on Jackson County. Any information would be much appreciated.

I am doing research on the Hites (also spelled Heydt). There is a linkage with Long Meadows, Middletown, Frederick County, Virginia for Hans Jost Hite and his wife Anna Maria Merckle and their ten children, including Isaac Hite Jr. who married Nellie Conway Madison. I have found conflicting information on some of the family as generations moved from Long Meadows to Belle Grove Plantation to Rockingham, Augusta, and Bath Counties.
I would like to meld this conflicting data into a complete
entry that
my daughters can give to their paternal grandparents. As I am fairly new

I am interested in seeking clarification of the origns of the Foglesong Family of Wythe/Bland Counties, VA. The LDA database lists a Simon Foglesong b. 1715 married a Susannah b. 1725. They are listed as having three children, Christian Foglesong b. 1762 m. Barbaray Mary Kegley; Maria Catherina Foglesong b. 1769 m. Nicholas Yenders; and Charles Foglesong b. 1772 m. Margaret Yew (Ewe). I know that Charles Foglesong and Margaret Ewe were married about March 11, 1794, and that Catherine Foglesong m. Nicholas Yenders on Jan 5, 1789. Both marriages took place in Frederick County, VA.
I am seeking clarification because I have been able to trace my Foglesong line (Bath, Mason, and Jackson Counties) back to Stephen City (Stephensburg, Va). My fourth great grandfather George Foglesong lived in Stephen City. He died in 1773, and left a wife Catherine, and two known children George Foglesong and Jacob Foglesong. George Foglesong m. Mary Swartz in 1793 in Shenandoah County, and Jacob Foglesong m. Catherine Spurr in 1792. Jacob d. in 1802 with no children and his wife Catherine remarried to Peter Mauk in 1804 and moved to Indiana. George Foglesong, who died in 1773, also had a brother Christian Foglesong who lived in Stephen City. He died in 1777. In his will he leaves his sister-in-law Catherine some items, and also leaves his brother Simon of Germantown, PA (Philadelphia) some items. Simon I know was in Germantown by 1776 and died there in 1791.
I feel uncomfortable with the LDS data regarding Simon and Susannah because Simon would have been 52,54 and 57 when his children were born, and his wife would have been 42,44 and 47. While this is possible, I have some reservations.
The data from the LDS database does not have a submission source, so I can not contact anyone.
I have information on a Simon and Sussannah Foglesong of
Frederick County,
VA. Simon was granted 150 acres in 1787 and he sold it in 1793 to John Wetzel.
Also, they lived there at the same time that Charles Foglesong b. 1772 and
Catherine Foglesong b. 1769 were married in Frederick County, VA. I have
not been able to find information in Frederick County identifying them as
the children of the Simon and Susannah who lived in Frederick County, Va.
I am wondering if it is possible, that this Simon was not born in 1715 but
perhaps later, about 1745 - 1750, perhaps in Germany, and that he may be
the son of Simon Foglesong of Germantown, VA. I would like to discuss with
anyone who has answers to these questions, or can let me know the source
of the LDS information. I know this is a long shot, but would appreciate
any input. Thanks, Chris

#1...... Deperately looking for information on the following family: Elizabeth CALLISON, b:27-Aug-1796 married James Morrison (1761-1858) on 4-Mar-1796. She died 24-Jun-1838 in Pocahontas Co. Elizabeth is from the Locust area in Bath Co., but I can find no information on her parentage. I only know her birth and death dates from Pocahontas Co. records, where she passed away.
Early records show CALLISON spelled as KELLISON & also COLLISON.
#2.... Looking for infomation on the following family: Edward KELLISON, b: circa 1793 in Bath Co. married Mary ARBAUGH on 25-Mar-1810 in Bath Co. Who is Edward KELLISON? Is he related to Daniel CALLISON-KELLISON Sr. of Bath Co.? Or perhaps another of the CALLISON-KELLISON families of the area?
Who is Mary ARBAUGH? I have no parentage for her family as well.
What about children?
I know my relative, Daniel KELLISON is from this union. He was born 12-Feb-1812 presumably in Bath Co. He later married Elizabeth McNEIL (b: circa 1844) on 18-Mar-1833 near Buckeye, VA. This KELLISON family shows up on the 1860 Pocahontas Census with the following children: John M, Mary A., Rebecca, William Andrew, Clark, George W., Adam V., Aaron S., Rachel E., and later Sally.
Who is Daniel's wife Elizabeth McNEIL?
KELLISON can also be spelled CALLISON or COLLISON.
Any help would be appreciated.

Would like any information on family members and parish
in which the following
served as clergy and/or vestrymen from the years of 1732-1786. I am confused
as to whether Nicholas Lanier and Samson Lanier were brothers
and if they served in Bath Parish, St.Andrews Parish, or the Church of Brunswick.
In the information I have it also mentions churches in Lawrenceville, a place
called Wilkins Chapel and a third church about eighteen miles from Lawrenceville.
Any information on these two men and the churches they may have served in
would be greatly appreciated. Thank

About 1808 or so he was granted 108 acres of land in Bath Co., VA, based on Archibald Elliott's service in the Revolutionary war.(he was killed at German Town.)
