I was born in Sheeptown, VA in 1941. My father was pastoring the Church of God there and my parents lived in a log cabin owned by an Alley family. The woman's name was Hallie Alley, I don't know the man's name. They had a son named Darrell. Recently my mother, her sister and a brother visited that area and the house where I was born is still standing. I'm wondering if anyone can help me find out how old the house is, who built it, etc. I'm just curious. Thanks,

James T. Coomes married in Grayson Co., Va. 1843, Elizabeth Dunford of Carroll Co.. married 2nd Amanda Davis 1857. I am looking for his parents and where all 3 are buried and when. James T. Coomes was born 1817, Baltimore Md. Appears next on a marriage record 1843. Where was he in between. Any clues at all would be greatly helpful. We are fresh out. (:

Looking for info on Brinkley's. My great grandfather, John Grover Brinkley was born in Carroll Co., Va. and that is all the info I have on his birth. I know his parents names are James L. Brinkley and Mary Margret Phibbs Brinkley and that is all on them. I also know that John Grover married a women by the name of Laura Sheffey Pope, her I have dates on. My father said that he never heard anything about the Brinkley's cause they had something to hide, now that has me hankering for more. If you could help it would be greatly appreciated.
