I have been searching for a long time to discover the parentage of my great-grandmother's mother. Her name was Millie Gardner Kemp. I have been told since I was a child that a Cherokee Indian woman named Nancy Redpath may have been her mother. They lived in Carroll County, VA. Thank you.

My husband and I are researching Alfred Gardner (great grandfather) born from 1837-1840 died approximately 1924 in Carroll County, Hillsville. He served in the CSA Company D, 29th Virginia Infantry for four years as a musician. Married Sarah (Sally) Morris in 1860 or there about had several children including a son John who married a Jessie Coulson and then Betty Jane McCraw, had a total of 16 children.
