My family has a lot of rich history in Hillsville/Carroll Co. VA. My father just died and with his passing, has made me very curious about my heritage. I know that we go way back in history and came from England. My great, great, great, great, great grandfather owned a great amount of land in the county. The only members I know are my grandfather and his brother, Wise and Wyatt SHOCKLEY. From there who knows where it goes. My uncle still lives in the county, Otis SHOCKLEY (I think) it's been so long since I've been around them, I'm unsure of the names. Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much for any help you can give me.

I am looking for information about the DAVIS and HARRELL Families of Carroll County. My ancestor, Abner DAVIS is listed in the 1850 Census for Carroll County, Virginia, 11th District, page 361. Wife, Martha and children, Uriah C., Hanby (Henry?) C., Jefferson C., Moses C., Mary C., Sarah N., Martha A., William F., & Parston (Preston?) are also listed. Family Tree Maker's Marriage CD#229 lists an Abner DAVIS who married a Martha HARRELL December 22, 1830 in Grayson County. Since Carroll County was formed in 1842 partly from Grayson County, these could possibly be my ancestors. Thank you,

HARRISON, SIZEMORE -
HARRISON, John, born about 1800, died ca. 1865 and married to (SIZEMORE?), Martha. They lived in the southern border region between Grayson, Carroll, and Surry (NC) Counties from the 1830's to the 1880's. Children included Jeremiah (1825), Mary Rankin (1827), Henry (1830), Robert (1833), Paulina/Perlina (1837), Solomon (1840), Greenebury (1841), William (1844), James (1847), Elizabeth Jane (1850). I am searching for descendants from this family and any background information on John or Martha HARRISON.

Looking for information on Josiah HENLEY and his wife Elizabeth MIDKIFF. She died in Carroll Co in the 1850's but Josiah died 11 April, 1890 in Carroll Co. Any info on the families of either of these two people would be greatly appreciated.
