The LEE name appearing in the MINUTES OF THE MEHERRIN BAPTIST CHURCH, LUNENBURG CO., VA. - original at the Virginia Baptist Historical Society. The book covers the period 1771-1844 with some missing. The church was located in Lunenburg
near Charlotte - part of both within its bounds. It was the "Old Ch" on the 1871 map of Lunenburg.

The location is also shown on an illustration at the Mount Zion Baptist Church photograph page; also on the 1864 Gilmer map of Lunenburg County, section 16. The Meherrin Baptist Church stood off #719, .4 miles from intersection of #719 and #623 (TopoZone map), near the Lunenburg/Charlotte line.

Note: Those in RED TEXT only can be identified as likely members of the John Lee Senior d. 1805 family.

p. 71, ANNE LEE - "Sister Anne Lee being about to remove to the
state of Kentucky, is dismiss'd in due order to join any
other church of the same faith & order...Novr 15th 1795."

p. 66, WILLIAM LEE - Sept 1792 "Reported that Letty Jesse &
Betsey Swinny are indulging in the practice of Dancing
etc whereupon David Shrieve & WILLIAM LEE are appointed
to give them notice to attend at next Meeting..."

p. 67, WILLIAM LEE - Jany 1793 "David Thompson, WILLIAM LEE &
Henry Haley are nominated Deligates to Sandy Creek Church
with their motion on subject of uniting the two Churches.


p. 80, WILLIAM LEE - Jan 1800 "It ordered that the Clerk to
write letters to WM. LEE & Johnson Wood, requesting them
to attend the meeting to be held at this place 2d
Saturday in Feb next to show cause why they shou'd not be
excommunicated as there are reports..being in disorder."

p. 82, WILLIAM LEE - June 1801,"...WILLIAM LEE having finally
absented himself from the Church and having admonished to
order...whereupon sentence of excommunication was
denounced against him & ordered to be published..."

"P. CLEMMOND (FORMERLY LEE)."


p. 84, WILLIAM LEE - on March 1803 list of those having been
excommunicated.

p. 136, HENDERSON LEE - (letter) "To the Baptist Church at
Maherrin - Brethren, as I am very unwell & consequently
unable to attend meeting today, I take this method of
requesting you to send me a letter of Dismission from the
Church by MR. HENDERSON LEE. If it be asked why I desire
it, take for Answer I am not satisfied in the Church I am
with sentiments...Polley Stevenson 30 SEPT 1815."


p. 190, "3rd of Sept 1830. Brother Silas Shelborne preached at
Brother William Ellises and Baptised Sister Ellis at
EDWARD LEES MILL."

p. 221, SAMUEL LEE - Nov. 1842 came forward & was baptized...for
convenience joined the church at Cool Spring.
