The Guy families were long time residents and land owners. Robert Nelson Guy born on Janurary 27, 1868 married Mary Louise Hanewinckel on June 14, 1899 (my grandparents). They owned a tobacco farm in Charlotte Court House Co., VA. Seven children were born to Robert and Mary Louise H. Guy: Sarah Elizabeth b. 1900, Louis Olten b. 1904, Robert Nelson, Jr. b. 1906, Christoph Augustus b. 1908 (my father), Horace Hopkins b. 1913, Lawton Courthope b. 1915, and Florrie Louise b 1918. My father Christoph A. and all his siblings grew up on this farm and graduated from school in Charlotte Court House. The farm which was named "Forrestdale" was originally purchased in 1870 (Deed book 33), page 38 by my gguncle Frederick William Haneiwnckel of Richmond, VA. This farm on Cub Creek contained 418 acres was given to my grandfather Christoph Ludewig Herman Hanewinckel on his 21st birthday. Christoph L.H. Hanewinckel married Martha Elizabeth Harvey on September 2, 1870 (also in the Charlotte Court House records. They had eight children: Thomas Hanewinckel b. 1871, Hohn Harman b. 1872, Mary Louise born on August 6, 1873, Ernest b. 1875, Bettie b.1876, William Adolphus b. 1878, Meta Theressa b.1881. Christoph L. H. was an educator and taught all levels school in Charlotte Co. My grandmother was also an educator who taught 5th grade (the grade?). She also published two short stories in a Virginia magizane. The name of one was The CAPTURED GHOST. The Guy family immigrated from England in 1634. The early Guy lived in Accomack/Northampton, Princess Anne, Norfolk, Nottway, Caroline and Charlotte counties.
