LEDFORD, KNIPE - I am the ggrandaughter of Robert Edward Lee LEDFORD and Ida Lucinda Victoria KNIPE. They were known to be living in the Petersburg/Dinwiddie area by 1887 at the time of the birth of my grandmother Ella Halligan LEDFORD. She had an older brother REL LEDFORD Jr. It is believed that Ida Lucinda immigrated from Germany. REL Sr disappears in the early 1890's - family mystery that died with my grandmother. Do not know if it was desertion, divorce or death. ILVK LEDFORD became a dietician for the Seaboard Airline Railroad and ended up in Rocky Mount, North Carolina where she died in the 1930's. Does anyone have any knowledge of REL Ledford or of his family? I'm at a real dead end - pardon the expression.
