After the death of Washington Freno Holland Sr., husband of Violet Pegram6, she married Jacob Froneberger, born 3 November 1836. Mr. Froneberger was a merchant of Dallas, North Carolina.

Mrs. Froneberger was a loyal member of the Presbyterian Church of Dallas of which her father, Winchester was the first Ruling Elder. She was a beloved teacher in its Sunday school for many years. She was highly esteemed by all who knew her. She and her husband are buried in the Presbyterian Church cemetery in Dallas. (19). They had one daughter: MARY ELIZABETH FRONEBERGER7 was born 11 May 1856 and died in 1940. She married John C. Puett of Dallas, North Carolina, and they had the following children:

Both Miss Corinne and Miss Artie Lee Puett were living in July 1982. We visited with them in their large old Victorian home in Dallas, where they had spent their entire life. Miss Corinne was ninety two years of age and in poor health. She died in 1983. They had a large picture of Winchester Pegram and Mary Stowe hanging on the wall, as well as a picture of their grandmother, Violet Pegram Holland Froneberger. They permitted me to take the picture of Winchester and Mary to a local studio and have it copied for this book, Figure 35. There are a number of members of the Puett family in the Dallas-Gastonia area. Rachel Hannah Hoke (126) included a chapter on Mary Stowe and her descendants in her treatise on the Stowe family, from which some of the information given was obtained.

WILLIAM WINCHESTER PEGRAM6, son of Winchester Pegram and Mary Stowe, was born 12 August 1832, and died 6 December 1888. He married Margaret E. Elliott, 14 October 1856, in Charlotte, North Carolina. She was born 9 January 1833 and died 14 June 1896. They had three children:

E. Elliott, was born 27 August 1860. He married Daisy M. Spring, 4 February 1885, in Charlotte, North Carolina. She was born in 1867. There were no children, but Miles Pinckney was appointed guardian of Mary Bessie Pegram, daughter of W.W. Pegram, deceased.
MARY ELIZABETH PEGRAM7 married John W. Powell, and they lived in the eastern part of North Carolina, near the South Carolina border. They had a daughter, MAGGIE8.

MILES PINCKNEY PEGRAM6, son of Winchester Pegram and Mary Stowe, was born 27 November 1834 and died 16 December 1915 or 16. He married Victoria Louise Tate, daughter of Thomas Randolph Tate and Annie Laura Humphries, 1 November 1876. She was born 11 April 1853 and died 4 June 1882. Miles Pinckney was a prominent banker in Charlotte, being President of the First National Bank (103). He owned considerable property in Gaston County in the latter part of the 1800s. He is listed many times in both the Grantor and Grantee indexes to real estate conveyances. He likewise owned property in Charlotte and other areas of Mecklenburg County. One who is interested in the extent and locations of property owned by the Pegram family can find pages of listings in the indexes to real estate conveyances of Gaston, Lincoln and Mecklenburg Counties of North Carolina, and in York County, South Carolina.

Miles Pinckney Pegram is buried in Elmwood Cemetery in Charlotte. He and Victoria had three children:

THOMAS RANDOLPH PEGRAM7, b. 5 Sept. 1877 or 78; d. 22 March 1941. He never married.
MILES PINCKNEY JR., b. 12 Nov. 1879; d. 21 April 1932, in Charlotte.
VICTOR LEWIS PEGRAM, b. 12 Nov. 1879; d. 23 May 1881. Since Miles Pinckney Jr. and Victor Lewis were born on the same date they were obviously twins.

ELVIRA EVELINA PEGRAM6, the last child of Winchester Pegram and Mary Stowe, was born 2 March 1837 and died 21 November 1844.

Some 260 descendants of Winchester Pegram and Mary Stowe have been listed. Some were missed, and there are many in more recent generations that are not known. Judging from the information available, these descendants are a group of citizens that have contributed substantially to their community and country.
