William Tucker

This Indenture made this thirty first day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and seventy seven Between Willm. Mosby & Jesse Mosby of the county of Cumberland of the one part and William Tucker of the same county of the other part Witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of fifty four pounds ten shillings current money of Virginia to him in hand paid by the said Wm. Tucker the receipt whereof he the sd. Wm. & Jesse Mosby doth hereby confess and acknowledge they the said Wm. Mosby & Jesse Mosby hath granted bargained sold and confirmed to the said Wm. Tucker a certain tract or parcel of land and by these presents do hereby grant bargain sell & confirm the same unto Wm. Tucker his heirs & assigns which said tract of land is bounded as follows (and is lying & being in the said County of Cumberland) by the lines of Archibald Hixs, John Scott the meanders of the cross ____ John Swann & the said William Tucker and contains fifty four and one half acres more or less being part of the tract devised to the said Willm. Mosby by his late father Micajah Mosby deceased with all woods houses orchards &c belonging to the said land or any ways appertaining thereto and all reversion or reversions remainder & remainders thereof & all the estate right title claim or demand of him them the said Wm. Mosby & Jesse Mosby their heirs or assigns To have & to hold the said tract or parcel of land & premises above mentioned & every part thereof to the said Wm. Tucker his heirs or assignees to the only use & behoof of him the said Wm. Tucker his heirs exrs. admrs. & assigns forever & the said Wm. & Jesse Mosby for themselves and their heirs the said tract or parcel of land and premises & every part & parcel thereof doth warrant & forever defend to him the said William Tucker his heirs &c against the right title claim or demand of them the said Wm. & Jesse Mosby or of every other person or persons whatsoever In witness whereof the said Wm. & Jesse Mosby hath hereunto set their hands & affixed their seals the day & year above written. Be it remembered that on the day of the date of the within written indenture quiet & peaceable possession & seizen was had & taken of the within bargained & sold land & premises by the within named Wm. Mosby & Jesse Mosby and by him delivered over to the within named Wm. Tucker agreeable to the intent & meaning of the within written indenture. Janr. 31, 1888 Recd. of Wm. Tucker fifty four pounds ten shillings current money of Virginia in full consideration of the above lands & premises. Signed by William Mosby and Jesse Mosby and witnessed by Robert Murray, Jesse Hix, and John Poindexter.

At a court held for Cumberland County 24th March 1777. This Indenture and the memorandum and receipt indorsed were proved by the witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded.
