This Indenture made and entered into this seventeenth day of July Eighteen hundred and twenty two between Hughes Woodson and Sarah his wife of the County of Powhatan of the one part and Peter Talbert and Martin Tucker of the said County of the other part Witnesseth that the said Hughes Woodson and Sarah his wife for and in consideration of the sum of Eight hundred dollars to them in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have granted bargained and sold and by these presents doth grant bargain and sell unto the said Peter Talbert and Martin Tucker their executors, administrators or assigns a certain tract or parcel of Land lying and being in the County of Powhatan and adjoining the Lands of Wm. Toney, Joseph Woodson, Larking Self, Elizabeth Woodson and the Buckingham road, on the South, containing Eighty one acres be the same more or less with all and singular the appertainnances thereunto belonging or appertaining To have and To hold the said tract or parcel of land with the appertainances before mentioned or intended to be mentioned and every part and parcel thereof unto the said Peter Talbat and Martin Tucker their heirs and assigns forever; and the said Hughes Woodson and Sarah his wife do hereby warrant and forever defend the right and title to the said Land free from the claim or claims of any person whatever In witness whereof we the parties have hereunto set our hands and seals the day and year above written. Signed by Hughes Woodson and Sarah Woodson. We Edward Mosely and Joseph Brackett Justices of the peace in the County of Powhatan and State of Virginia do hereby certify that Sarah Woodson the wife of Hughes Woodson parties to a certain deed bearing date on the seventeenth day of July Eighteen hundred twenty two and hereunto annexed, personally appeared before us, in our county aforesaid and being examined by us privily and apart from her husband and having the deed aforesaid fully explained to her, she the said Sarah Woodson acknowledge the same to be her act and deed and declared that she had willingly signed, sealed and delivered the same and that she wished not to retract it. Given under our hands and seals this 13th day of July 1822. Signed Edwd. Moseley and Jos. Brackett. At a Court of Monthly Sessions holden for the County of Powhatan on the 18th day of July 1822. This Indenture of bargain and sale was presented in Court and acknowledged by Hughes Woodson a party thereto, to be his act and deed and thereupon the same together with a certificate thereto annexed of the acknowledgment and privy examination of Sarah Woodson the wife of the said Hughes Woodson was ordered to be recorded.
