Rock Hill
Rock Hill was built by John A. Spencer on land he acquired in 1871 from the
estate of Robert Saunders, Sr.
After Spencer's death the house was owned by a black Nunnally family. In
1939, Rock Hill was bought by William Asa Newcomb, who lived there until 1950,
when he moved to Chase City. At his death in 1958, the farm was divided between
sons George Rodney Newcomb and William Asa Newcomb, Jr. The latter owns the
unoccupied Rock Hill in 2000. [Information furnished by Mrs. Betsy Long,
daughter of George Rodney Newcomb.]
Rock Hill is located in Lunenburg County on Rt 632, Newcomb Bridge Rd.,
