Annotations

"Rudd" is listed among merchants in Elliott and Nye's Virginia Directory and Business Register - 1852 Lunenburg County . That would have been William S. Rudd. The 1860 Census shows:
0962 210 198 Wm S. Rudd 33, A[lice] M. Rudd 27, Wm E. Rudd 7, Alice Rudd 5, Edward T. Rudd 3, male not named 7/12. [Douglass Wooten Rudd], next to Martha W. Rudd 50. Wm. S. Rudd was the father of Ida Lee Rudd, not yet born.
