Died at his home near Conway, Laclede County, MO in the 83 rd year of his age, of senile debility, William Williams on Friday, February 17, 1899. Mrs. Williams was born in Lunenburg County, VA in 1816. In 1837 with Thomas Gregory he moved to Missouri making the trip by wagon and settled on a farm close to the present Camp Belton P.O. Here he resided until 1884 when with his family he moved to Laclede County.
Capt. Billy Williams as he was familiarly known to the older residents of Franklin County was an upright honest man, esteemed by all for his sterling character and ability. He was of a retiring disposition, never sought office or its emoluments proffering the quietude of his farm home. Early in life he espoused the cause of Christ joining the Missionary Baptist Church and he lived a consistent Christian life until the final summons came calling him to his reward. In political faith he was a Democrat of the old school casting his first vote for Andrew Jackson. Besides his wife he leaves a family of 9 children (6 sons and 3 daughters all grown). He was buried Sunday February 19 th in the Baptist cemetery at Conway.Another clipping gives the information that he married Elizabeth Hiatt January 18, 1854 and gives the names of his sons and daughters.
