A letter written by Mary "Stokes" Gregory Nov 24, 1859 to her brother mentions this transaction: "Uncle Daniel Gunn has bought Jno. Hardy's land and Ashley his, so Aunt Tabby [nee Lee & wife of Daniel Gunn/jgs] and Cousin Pattie [wife of Ashley Robertson/jgs] are both bettered so far as houses are concerned. So many changes will take place before your return that you'll hardly know how to 'navigate.'"
