Rattle-snakes Killed.
Whilst peeling bark in the Massanutten Mountain, near Hopkin’s saw mill, several miles east of this place, Wm. Moten, colored, killed a rattle-snake, which had nine rattles and a button, and measured three feet and one inch long, and six inches in circumference.
A few days ago, the "old man" (Henry Moten, col’d.) went his son "one better". He killed a rattler with 10 rattles and a button, and it measured two feet and three inches long, and 7 inches in circumference.
We have the evidence that the Motens did their work well, and if we haven’t the scalps we have the rattles.
