Sadie Ethel McWilliams, the daughter of James Lee and Laura Hahn McWilliams, was born Nov. 23, 1899, in Toms Brook, VA and died Nov. 14, 1975 in Walter Reed Hospital, Wash., D.C. She is buried in Toms Brook Cemetery. Sadie lived in Front Royal, VA for most of her adult life at 233 Short Street. She was the grandmother of Alley Blackford. |
When I was a child, my grandmother stored her glasses in the top cabinets. The bottom drawer on the right is the bread drawer. In December of 1999, my uncle, Kenneth Lee Pullen, gave me my grandmother's cabinet. I had it restored and it now sits in my kitchen storing my bread in the lower right drawer, just as it did for my grandmother. Gramma paid $10.00 for the cabinet. I paid $800 to have it restored plus $200 to tow it from Panama City, FL to my home. Is it worth that much? To collectors, no. To me, yes.
