Confederate Ancestors George Nathaniel & James Early Thrift

George Nathaniel Thrift; b.1841, d. 1875, joined Company "A," 7th. Virginia Infantry, Kemper's Brigade, Pickett's Division, Longstreet's Corps in 1861.

The original name of this company was "The Richardson Guards." Company "A" was reorganized at Yorktown, VA .in 1862 and the muster-rolls list George N. Thrift as 2nd lieutenant. He was wounded twice.

James Early Thrift, brother of the George N. Thrift (above); b.1845,d.1884, is listed in "The Roster of Confederate Soldiers" as a private in the 35th. VA. Cavalry Battalion, Company "F." Their parents were Dr. George N. Thrift and Eliza Early, m.1838. (Pictured below)


Joseph B. Thrift enlisted on May 25, 1861, in Company "C" from Westmoreland and was a member of Lee's 9th. Virginia Cavalry. He was discharged by a surgeon's certificate on July 18, 1861." His veteran's records also show that he was born on August 3, 1825, and died on April 7, 1904.
