I am searching for a VA link to my great-great-great grandfather Benjamin Reed who settled in Floyd County, KY just before 1820, having immigrated from Tazewell, VA according to family oral history. He is believed to have been married to Sally Green in Montgomery County, VA in 1824, although this is not certain. Benjamin's known children were Daniel Reed, born 1806 in VA, Stephen Reed, and James Reed.
My great-great-grandfather Daniel Reed was married to Martha "Patsy" Lewis, born 1808 in VA. They were married in 1829 in Morgan County, KY. The KY settlement of this Reed family was known as Cow Creek or Stella and was on the Johnson Fork of the Licking River which was in Floyd County in 1820 but became Morgan County before 1830 and Magoffin County before 1890.
I have failed to find this VA link after searching 1810 census, marriage, and will records in Montgomery and Giles Counties. I would like to contract a local geneologist to help with the search.
I would appreciate any direction you could provide,
David Reed Beatty
Lewisburg, WV

I am interested in any research done on Thomas Gaskins who married Milley Fulgham and appears in the Isle of Wight 1790 Census. Their son, William married Elizabeth and lived in Isle of Wight. William's son, Murdock M. Gaskins was born in 1835 married Elizabeth had a son, George Thomas Gaskins and at least two daughters. Murdock served in Co. D 6th VA Infantry, died and was buried in Lynchburg VA in 1862. George Thomas Gaskins married Cornelia Frances Cooper and had 12 children. My grandfather, James Henry Gaskins, married Elsie Virginia Oliver from Suffolk and their only son, George Nathaniel Gaskins was my father. He married Miriam Lee Yost of Fairmont, WV and had 5 children in Portsmouth, VA. Those children were: Larry Douglas, James Y., Richard Nathaniel, Thomas Frank, and Patti Ann Gaskins.

Seeking more information of my father's family, Francis Durres, 1705, of perhaps Caroline County, or elsewhere. This is one original ancestor that I know of. My daughter is in school at Randolph-Macon in her final year; this is our last attempt at discovering distant relatives, or something. I understand there are many Durre, (es,te,tt's) in the Rapidan or Rappihonick River regions. I do know that the tt's were added during the Civil War, maybe by my grgrgrandfather of Ky. Thank you very much,

Researching half-brothers Peter R. Proby and Keeble Terry (b. 1799), who are the sons of Dorothy Ransom Proby Terry. Peter's father was James Proby and Keeble's father was Daniel Terry, son of Moses Terry, son of Daniel Terry and Christain Evans. This is documented in a lawsuit started in 1819 Halifax Co VA. This info found by Margie Brown of Oakton VA. "Family tales" of Keeble being part Cherokee too are now proven false BUT his wife Rebecca is still Cherokee, as the Cherokee connection came from the mouth of Julia H. Terry ...their grandaughter...to my mother back in the 1930's. 1823 Halifax Co VA court records shows: Keeble Terry, John Terry, Thomas Terry (all brothers) Lucy R. Terry dau. of deceased brother Daniel Terry and siblings Peter R. Proby, James Proby, Nancy B. Proby.
My Julia H. Terry is the dau. of Kibble & Rebecca Terry's dau. Lucy B. Terry age 15 b. abt 1845 d. 1861-1865. Biological father for my Julia H. Terry is Ludwell George Davis b. 1844 d. 1937 in Ark. Ludwell's sister Belinda (Davis) <Akin is the "Indian" that raised her niece Julia H. Terry. Reference to Julia's "Indian" mother, turns? out to be the woman that raised her is who she called mother. The Davis line out of SC is the Cherokee in the family.
