HEWLETT -
Greetings! I have researched the Hewlett name all the way back to Martin and Susanna in
New Kent County, VA. St. Peter's Parish recorded their children's births and baptisims. Martin is
listed as a member of the VA militia under the command of Col. Byrd during the Revolution which
makes me qualify for the DAR as I am a direct paternal descendant. Apparently both he (1738) and
his father, Martin (1710) were born in New Kent but I have no documentation. I'm stuck. Any
suggestions? New Kent's early records were lost in a fire by arson. Thank You, CBC

STOKES -
I am seeking information on Charles Stokes who lived in Halifax (Lunenburg, VA). Charles
had a son Joel Allen who migrated to Edmonson Co., KY. I know the Stokes were in NC and
probably descend from Christopher Stokes who was an early immigrant from England. Is
anyone working on this lineage?

BROWN -
I would like to see if I could find a John Ross Brown who was married to a Nancy. They
moved to Madison County Alabama around 1807 or so. I am not sure exactly where in Virginia John
or Nancy were living before they moved to Alabama. John Ross and Nancy Brown had a son by
the name of Moses Brown who married in Madison County Alabama. I can follow Moses
Brown and his family but I can not find John Ross Brown or Nancy. Any help would be
greatly appreciated.
