ABBENY, ABONY, AUBENY, AUBONY, OBENY, OBNEY -
I am researching the surname OBNEY. Other variations on the spelling could be
OBENY, AUBENY, AUBONY, and ABONY. According to Peter Coldham's
"The Complete Book of Emigrants in Bondage". Robert OBNEY was convicted of a
crime in London in July 1749 and shipped to America on the ship Thames in August 1749.
I do not know where he landed or what happened to him after he arrived. The family has been
traced back to a James OBENY born some where in Virginia about 1760. There is also the
following: Thomas Abony (Aubony) Revolutionary War Veteran 2nd Virginia Regiment,
private in the Continental Line. BLW 11881-100-13, Dec. 1791, assignee Francis Greaves. Did he
have a son named James Abbeny (Obeny)? A wife or daughter named Susannah? Help,
please.

CHINNIS -
The CHINNIS Family. My earliest direct descendant, has been located in Brunswick County,
that is located directly West of Cape Fear River and Wilmington, North Carolina at 1798. There is
no ship manifest data available that directly links the CHINNIS Family name; thus I
believe with confidence, that the family, entered Brunswick County Quite Possibly Through
Virginia, and may have SPELLED the CHINNIS Name, differently. Your knowledge, however,
seemingly insignificant, may help "break" this stone wall I have encountered in
locating my family. I believe that if you have any information on the CHINNIS Family that
you may provide us, you will be helping us in this challenging project.
Very truly yours,

HARRELL, LEE, O'HAIR -
LEE/ O'HAIR/ HARRELL: My great grandfather, Robert Leander LEE, was
born July 4, 1842, in Virginia. In 1852, the family, consisting of his unknown parents, siblings
Frank, Eugene, Annie, and 2 others, arrived in north-central Calif., near Napa (?). His father
was reported to be a doctor, and may have worked as an attendant in a hospital. What were the
names of he and his wife? Who are the 2 unknown siblings? Wish to learn about all the siblings'
descendants. Robert had a child, Cleo, possibly born 1859-1866. Who was her mother? Who did
Cleo marry? Who are her descendants? Robert moved to San Saba Co, TX, 1867-69, where he taught
school, and married a widow, Bettie (Sarah Elizabeth O'HAIR) HARRELL, who had two
girls, Nettie
and May.

ANDERSON, DICKERSON -
George DICKERSON stated on the birth record of his youngest son, Joseph Henry
DICKERSON who was born 1874, Nelson County, Kentucky, that he (George) was born in Sarana
County, Virginia. According to census, he was born about 1800. What county did he mean? The
handwriting is clear, no mistaking Sarana for an existing county. Family tradition says that
George came to Kentucky from Virginia by the way of Maryland. He may have arrived Nelson County
with the family of Benedict ANDERSON of Montgomery County, Maryland. He married Penelope
Eleanor ANDERSON, daughter of Benedict, in Nelson County, 1829.

THOMAS, William: in Fauquier, Culpeper, or Botetourt Co, VA: Looking for any information
about William THOMAS. He left VA, sometime after 1778 to reside in Bracken County,

marriage bond for Nancy Ann GREEN and Thomas Marshall McCLANAHAN in Fauquier
County, Va. in 1778 and was a "witness" who signed affidavits in Tom
