Hi. My various families keep leading me back to southern Virginia: Henry County for my mom's clan
and Pittsylvania County for my dad's. Can you recommend a few good Virginia history books that
will give me a better feel for the settlement and migration thru and from Virginia. I know my
dad's family was in Pittsylvania in 1777. My mom's family was probably in Henry County about the
same time. (I know I had family in Georgia in 1745 and I'm researching that also.) But it seems
everyone goes back to Virginia. I want to know more of the history of the colony / state.
Thank you, Karen in Texas

RAGEL -
My ancestor, Joh. Leonard Ragel, came to the Port of Philadelphia on November 19, 1771
aboard the ship "Tyger" and was still on board in early 1772 awaiting indenture that would pay
for his family's passage. By 1800 he was apparently in the Holston Colonies.
I have been
trying to find out to whom he was indentured, when, for how long, and where. Does anyone have a
suggestion where I might find a record of this indenture contract?
