READ, READE, REED, REID, RIEAD, RIED -
Searching for the parents of ABNER, JOHN, SAMUEL, and THOMAS RIEAD, b1810-1815 in VA. The
four brothers migrated to IL abt 1840 after stopping in TN for six or eight years. Parents'
given names unknown, VA residence unknown, spelling of surname possibly, even probably, changed
in an earlier generation. (possibly READ/ READE/ REED/ REID/

JONES, LINTON -
LINTON - My great(3)-grandfather, Hillary "Henry" LINTON, was born in
Virginia in about 1793. He married Rebecca Jones (b. 1801, North Carolina) on 29 November
1819 in Blount County, Alabama. They were the parents of thirteen children, including my
great(2)-grandfather, Henderson LINTON (b. 1821). If you have any information about the
LINTON family in Virginia of the late 1700s and/or early 1800s, please contact

BLINCOE, HAMM, SELF -
Have hit a brick wall with my SELF/ HAMM research. My g-g-g-g-grandfather, Thomas
Self m. Oney Hamm. I have b.date for Thomas Self as June 2, 1759 though
I've seen another date as well. Wife, Oney Hamm was born 1760 & died in Russell Co.,
VA. Her parents - Thomas & Sarah Hamm, g-parents - George & Suanna Hamm.
Thomas Self was born in Northumberland Co., VA & was married in Amelia Co., VA. 3
children - Burwell, Elzenia (Seany) & James Mastin. My line descends from James Mastin
Self. I'll be happy to share info. on this line & hope someone can add to this,
specifically w/knowledge on parents of Thomas Self. A relative suggests possibility that
court records were burned at this point, so I'm hoping to find someone with a family Bible or
other verifying papers. A SELF researcher has suggested his parents might be William
& Hannah Self, William being the son of John Self & Susannah
Blincoe. If anyone can either prove or dispute this fact or add to either of these

BECKHAM -
BECKHAM, James James was a private in the RW, enlisting from Northumberland Co., VA in
1776/7. He collected his pension in Frederick Co. He died 22 Apr 1822. His son applied for the
remainder of his pension. Seeking the name of James' wife and his son. Pension records are very
sparse and do not give this information.

MULLINS, WRIGHT -
Looking for information on Ben F. Mullins b.1883, married Healtha or Healthy J.
Wright b. 1887. Ben's parents , I think were Booker Mullins b. 1848 and Charlotte
"Charity" Wright b. 1846. Ben may have had a sister, Elizabeth b. Dec 14, 1888
and a brother George W. b. September 12, 1894. I do know that Ben and Healtha are buried in the
Wright Cemetery in Pound VA, Wise County.

DOUGLASS, GILL, ORGAN -
Hamilton DOUGLASS married Mary A. Gill in Halifax County, VA, 27 Dec 1827. By the
1830 census they were living in Pittaylvania Co VA. Hamilton was born in Virginia 8 Jun 1803
but we don't know where...and cannot link him with any of the Douglass families living in
the Halifax/Pittsylvania area. The family moved to Wilson Co, TN, between 1832 & 1836,
probably because Mary's uncles, Raleigh ORGAN, Simpson ORGAN, Cornelius
ORGAN and Robert ORGAN had moved there about 1810. I'm searching for the parents of
Hamilton DOUGLASS plus any other information about this family. I'll share all info I
have.

ESTES, MAJORS, ORGAN -
ESTES/ORGAN: Abraham ESTES married Nelly ORGAN in 1780 in Halifax County,
VA. Nelly ORGAN is probably Eleanor ORGAN, daughter of William ORGAN and
Esther (Majors) Organ. Eleanor (Nelly) was born in Baltimore Co, MD, but some of
the family are found in Halifax County from about 1780 and on. I would like to find the link, if
any, between Nelly's Organ family and that of Samuel ORGAN, also a resident of
Halifax Co, Va, from about 1770. Samuel is my 4Gr Grandfather. Some of his family lived in
Campbell Co, Va, some lived in Pittsylvania Co. Several of them moved to Wilson Co, TN, about
1810. The children of Abraham ESTES and Nelly (Organ) ESTES were: David b.
1785; William b. 1787; John b. 1789; and Nancy, Sally and Abraham (birthdates not known). Does
anyone have more information on Nelly's family and on Abraham's parents?

BLAKE, DAVENPORT, DAVIS,
HUTCHINS -
Any information wanted for Ambrose Davenport. He opened tavern in 1772 at Tower Hill,
property of Capt. Henry Harrison in Sussex Co.,Va. In 1777 Ambrose opened store on Waller St.,
Williamsburg. 1779 he took over Wetherburn's Tavern, Williamsburg. In 1882 he and wife Mary sold
property in Williamsburg to Augustine Davis who married Martha Davenport. In 1787
he is charged for tax James City County for himself and Joseph Davenport. Could this
Ambrose be any relation to the Ambrose R. Davenport who joined the army at Richmond, under
Capt. Ballard Smith, in 1792?? Or could this man be Ambrose, born 1771, the son of Mary
Hutchins Blake, god parents; John Edwards, Ambrose and Mary
Davenport. Ambrose R. Davenport ended up in MI., stationed at Mackinac Island in
1796. He said he was a schoolmate of Wm. Henry Harrison, but not at Hampton-Sidney College. He
returned to Va. in 1813 to visit friends before joining Harrison's Army. I would be grateful for
any help or ideas for finding his Va. roots.

I have done some research on a man named John B. Charlton, he was a old Indian Fighter and
a book was published about him, in the book he says he was born in Virginia in 1848 to a good old
southern family, but he never mentions who, I think he fought in the Civil war under the name
Fitzmaurice, he ran away from home very young , Does this man sound familiur to anyone out
there.

According to the MS Census, Lucius Cary Martin was b. in 1797 in VA. According to family
legend, he related that his grandfather (ggrandfather, etc.?) came from ENG, and emigrated first
to Barbados. Any information on his family would be greatly appreciated.

CYPHERS, SIFERS, WILLIS -
Seeking information on parents of Abner Willis and wife Eve/Eva Sifers/
Cyphers. Banns published at Wytheville 1804. Settled on Little Cedar Creek west of Lebanon
Va, in Russell Co. He was of Scotch Irish descent, born c. 1775. She (b. c 1780) was of German
descent, and probably related to the Cyphers who settled near Wytheville, and later moved
to Buchannan Co Abner disappeared c. 1840...family history has him having a fight with Eve and
"going back to the old country). Seems most likely that his family was from the Wytheville
area; and if he went somewhere, it was to them. Eve died c. 1850.
