CANARY, WILSON -
I am looking for information on James Canary (1788-1862), who was born in Virginia (later W. Virginia) and died in Princeton, Missouri. He is the grandfather of the well-known frontier woman, Calamity Jane (Martha Canary, 1856-1903). I am looking for facts on James's life, who his ancestors were, and his immediately family. He is suppose to have married Sarah Wilson, and they were living in Ohio during most of the 1820s, 30s, and 1840s. He (and maybe she) moved to Iowa in the 1850s and later to Missouri in the mid- to late-1860s. I would appreciate any information, no matter how obscure.
