CRAFTON -
My mother was a Crafton. Some time in the 1930, her father Charlie received a letter from
the State of Va. wanting him to come and claim his part of some kind of an inheritance. But as
most people know at that time most people were so poor that didn't have the means to travel. I am
not look for money I am looking for important documents, our family history. To name a few people
in his family. Thomas Crafton born in England died 1649. He lived at Chipoake plantation .
I don't know what you might dig up for me, but it would be nice for my family history. Of course
my Mother would love to see it.

BAILEY -
I don't have much information and there may be a lot of Bailey's in Virginia or not! My
husband is related to the Bailey's: their only daughter, of nine boys and one girl. I got
this from an article from a distant relative. It says about James, John Sr Bailey's
father, tradition has it that he came from Virgina. John was born in 1789, I think in Clay County
Kentucky. I was just hoping that maybe there is a post on this family already and you can pass
the information found onto me? I was also hoping that maybe a probate says that James goes to
Kentucky? I don't know if John had brothers and sisters. If so, I don't know where he is in the
birth order either. I am pretty much at a dead end and I was hoping for some help in Virginia.
There is a possibility that if it is legend that there are mistakes and the information could be
W. Virginia maybe too? I thought going with Virginia would be a good start tho. Any help or
suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you for reading my post.

GRAVATT, GRAVETT, GRAVITT, GREEVATT, GREVIT -
I am interested to learn about Gravett families in VA. I am looking for different
spellings, could be Gravitt, Gravatt, Greevatt, Grevit, and more. I
am especially interested in families around the late 1700s up to and including 1800. I descend
from a John Gravett who had two sons, Henry and William Gravett, and he farmed
these boys out when young and disappeared. It is unclear if he died or went somewhere to try to
claim land. It looks as if my Gravettes are visiting VA in one of the census records, mid
1800s (visiting relatives?), but I haven't substantiated this, although all the names fit.
Spotsylvania and Stafford Co are in my notes, but it has been so long, I do not know why I have
those counties written down. ANY info, however small, is worth its weight in gold. This family
seems easy to find because the name is slightly unusual. Please help me! Thanks in advance.

COFFMAN, COOK,

I'm looking for information on the parents of William Coffman, born in an unknown county
of Va. on Feb. 14, 1830. His mother, possibly named Mary, was born in Va., his father in Pa. He
married Emma Ann Hawkins on Sept. 7, 1852, in Abingdon, then moved to Tenn. He was
employed by Abraham Hupp in Salem as early as 1850, and he may be the minor assigned a
guardian, Wm. M. Cook, in Salem in Dec. 1843 (and a surety, Henry A. Edmundson). He
was described in the court proceedings as "William Coffman, orphan of Mary." He may have
family ties to the Hupps, Cooks, or Edmundsons, but I have not been able to
identify any possible parents. Since he named one of his sons "Edwin Grant," Grant is also
a possible family surname. This is my brick wall. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Sue
