BOOTH, FITZPATRICK, HARRIS, JEFFERSON, OSBORN, YEARGAIN -
I am interested in any information regarding the Yeargain family. My primary interest is
Samuel YEARGAIN, b. ca 1730, probably in Wales, who built the first Methodist Chapel in
America- in 1770s Northampton County, NC. I believe that he was a brother to Andrew
YEARGAIN, early Methodist Circuit rider. I descend from Samuel and his first wife Anne
BOOTH. They married in 1752 in Chesterfield County, Va. It appears that Anne was a
granddaughter of Thomas HARRIS who d. in Henrico co., Va. in the 1720s, and his wife, Mary
JEFFERSON. The surnames FITZPATRICK and OSBORN married into family of Thomas
HARRIS and are witnesses to YEARGAIN/BOOTH document. Thanks. Bebe Fox

BAYLOR -
Does anyone have a connection to John Baylor Sr. born in Orangeburg, South Carolina in
1774 ? He had at least one son John Jr. born in Savannah, Ga. in 1804. By 1850 both Johns were in
Berkeley County South Carolina. We have lots of information on John Jrs' descendants but nothing
on John Sr. It is possible John Sr. is related to the Baylors of Virginia. Can anyone
help?

MOURNING -
I am searching for ancestors of William R. Mourning, b. 8/30/1822, from VA. William R.,
his sister Elizabeth (Betsy), b. abt. 1818, and brother John moved from Virginia to Lincoln CO,
MO (1840-50 census records and various public records in Lincoln Co.) and William R. and his
family eventually moved to Calhoun then Jersey Co. IL. William R. was a school teacher. It is
known that William R. and his son Richard (Dick) made a trip from MO to VA shortly before the
Civil War to see William's father who was in ill health at that time. We have no record of the
name of the father nor where he lived. One birth certification for William's daughter Sally
states that her father was from Richmond, VA but this may not have been the family home. Family
tradition is that the Mourning family came into Jamestown area and there is record of a
Giles Mourning and family in Gloucester Co in 1666. There are early census records of
Mournings in Va and NC. There is a family descended from a Roger Mourning who came
from Ireland into Philadelphia prior to Revolutionary War then moved into western VA. This line
was well documented by Kenneth Waddell and there is no connection on the American continent.
