I've been trying to get information about the father of my 4th ggrandfather Archibald Thompson (1736-1802?). His son Ratliff Thompson (1767-1830?) was my 3rd ggrandfather. I know the following about Archibald's father from his diary and from what I have been able to gather. John Thompson was his father, and Mary Roden (Rodden) was his mother. The birth date of "a" John Thompson varies from 1702-1715 in Penrith, Cumberland,,England. Mary Roden's birth may be 1715. I have no place of birth for her. I do have a date for their marriage which was in Ireland---5 May 1734, but I don't know the county or town. The children were Anne (1735), Archibald (17 Jun 1736-11 May 1802? in Monroe Co., Ky), Mary Thompson (1739-1820). These children were born in Ireland. One researcher said that the fourth child Lucinda "Betsy" Thompson (1742-1838) may have been born in Ireland. I did find a mention that John Thompson immigrated to Virginia c1740. If this proves to be true, then Lucinda would have been born in Virginia. Betty Thompson 1744, and the remaining children would have been born in Virginia. Rebecca and George have the same birth year 1745 (twins?), and Roden (1748). That last son's name made me feel confident that maybe I was on the right road. For Mary Roden (1715-1782) I found that a Mary Roden Thompson had died in Kentucky, but I don't have any sourcing. Apparently, John had died in Virginia, and Mary had traveled to Kentucky with one her children's family where she lived her last days. I would like to substantiate what I have assumed to be factual or to learn the truth. I would like to be able to eventually trace John and Mary's roots back to Ireland/England. I did hire a researcher in Cumbria, England, with the result that there were at least 3 John Thompsons with birthdates ranging from 1702-1715 born and christened in Cumberland, England. They could not be positive which was my John Thompson. If I can find out about their lives in Virginia, it may help with finding out more about their family in Ireland/England. I've included all of the information that I have found of this family. I will continue to search, but if there is any information that can be found in Virginia, I will be grateful.

I am the great-great grandson of Blackston Williams. This is as far back as I can go in my Williams ancestry.
Blackston Williams (wife Oma) had a twin, John (wife Catherine). They were borned about 1810 in southwest Virginia, probably Lee County. About 1844 or 1845 they moved to Claiborne County, Tennessee. The 1860 census for Claiborne County lists Blackston, age 50, born in Va., wife Oma, age 45, born in Va., daughters Rebecca, age 18, and Nancy, age 16, borned in Va. Other children are Paton, William, Mary (also called Polly, I think), Martha, Joesph, and Jane all born in TN.
Lee County, Va. tax lists for 1810 listed John, Isaac, and Joseph Williams. Lee Cy., census 1820 listed George, Henry, Hezekiak, William, John Williams. Lee Cy., census 1830 listed Charles, Evins, James, John, and Zezkiah Williams.
However, I can't connect Blackston and John to any of the earlier men listed. Thank you for any information you have.

Looking for Mary Hall b. cir 1807 in VA who married James W. Smith also from VA. They had at least 3 children born in VA named Clemenza Smith b. 1829; Pyrenee Smith, born, 1821; and Lucretia Smith b. 1834. It's possible there was another child (son) ahead of all of these daughters. This info comes from an 1850 Census record in Whitley, IN. There is a DAR application that states Pyrenee was born in Nelson County. Any information on James W. Smith who appears in the 1840 Whitley Co., Smith Twp, IN census in the 30 and under 40 age group, would be appreciated. I have not been able to find a break in this for a very long time.

I'm seeking ancestry of Edward Sanders, VA county unknown. His headstone indicates he was born 17 Jan 1818 and died 28 May 1879. Headstone at Rice's chapel in Blount Co., AL indicates a Mason's symbol. He is buried next to his wife America McPherson born in AL. A book written in 1904 Vol. 2 "Notable Men of Alabama," by Joel Campbell DuBose, pages 192-193 gives a writeup on Edward's grandson, Charles Waldo Sanders. In the writeup it refers to Edward and states that Edward "came to Alabama from the state of Virginia, when the state was first being settled, he being a member of one of the first families to settle in Virginia." While Edward's headstone shows no middle initial, one Blount county census had a middle initial that appeared to be a G (or possibly a D). His headstone shows the name Edward but one census had Edmund. Any help you or anyone can give me would be greatly appreciated.

I am trying to find where and when my great grandparents married. I know my great grandfather, John E. Her parents were John Wesley Louthian and Joanna DeBoard but I think she was born in the early 1880's, so isn't on any census I can find, so don't know what her first name is. My grandmother was born March 30, 1907, so know they were married probably in 1905- or 6. I am looking for information on a "Jessie Gallymore/ Gallimore/ Gallemore". My grandfather noted in a family bible that the father of his grandfather William Moore (born 1812) was Jessie Gallymore who was from Virginia. We know that William Moore (no known middle name) moved at some point before 1837 to Cannon County, Tennessee (might have originally been in the White County, Tennessee area before settling in Cannon County, where he died in 1899). His oldest son, Jessie G. Moore, was born in Cannon County in 1837. William Moore's wife's name was Elizabeth Warren, and she was apparently born around 1822. We do not know whether she and William met and married in Virginia, or whether they may have been married after he moved to Tennessee. I've found one document on the internet that seems that it might be a link to Jessie Gallymore; it lists several Gallimores, including one named William, as of 1748 in Lunenburg and Charlotte counties. That William's wife's name was Mary, and both William and Mary are names that reoccur in the part of our family tree that we have pieced together. My grandfather told my father that the family name change from Gallymore/Gallimore to Moore occurred when the move to Tennessee was made -- we don't know if Jessie ever moved to Tennessee, or if William moved here on his own. Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated! Thank you,
