As far as I can tell, my Hill Family originates in Virginia, with the ancestors of my great-great-grandfather, John F. Hill and his brother, Scott Hill. I am not sure of what county in Virginia, but on John's death certificate, it says he was born in VA. I am looking forward to your response.

ROBINSON, WILSON, WOODY -
My g-grandmother had one brother who died in the Civil War. I was told he died in "Kentucky, Virginia". I found a reference to a battle or skirmish at Kecaughon (?) Virginia on the day he was supposed to have died in 1861. I have been unable to find the reference again. Could anyone help me with this? He was her only brother, Bartley Wilson from Yancey Co. NC. His mother was Judith Robinson, daughter of George and Susannah (Woody) Robinson, who went into NC in 1790s from Franklin Co. VA. Merry Christmas to all.

SORENSEN, SORENSON -
Like a million other genealogists, I am trying to find the proverbial needle in my family haystack. I have a great uncle that must have been part nomad. He was born in Denmark, 31 August 1889. I am certain his name probably was NOT Peter when he immigrated at age 2, but more than likely Pedder, Peder or Petter. The surname was Sorensen ... which I have found incorrectly listed in several of his family member's records as SorensOn. Uncle Pete's date of death was March 5 or 6th, 1956, again I am assuming in Virginia. Anyway, to make a long story longer, Uncle Pete had a garage partnership in Chicago in the 20s. He sold out his portion of the business just prior to the Depression (I think) and moved to Texas, where he was reported to have been a deputy sheriff or a sheriff around the San Antonio area...so what am I doing in Virginia? A helpful person found Uncle Pete's social security listing in the SSDI. (Now WHY didn't I think of that?) The number was obtained in Texas, BUT his last residence was listed as Virginia. I don't have a clue WHERE in Virginia. The information indicates that Uncle Pete had no children. His wife's name was Mary, and supposedly they were married in or around the Chicago area. So far everything I have turned up has yielded only rumor ... nothing concrete ... and since I am probably the only person looking for Uncle Pete, I doubt there would be anything listed in the way of queries. I would appreciate any information, suggestions, clues ... etc ... to find this galloping relative! Thank you! Judi Sorensen Antonson, Pueblo, Colorado
