CHRISTMAS, DUKE, GRAVES, WOODSON, YANCEY -
I am trying to find information on my (?) great-grandfather HICKS R. WOODSON. According
to a birth certificate of one of my great-uncles, dated August 14, 1985, Baltimore, MD, Hicks R.
Woodson named as the father, was a waiter and was born in Virginia. My great-grandmother
was LOUISA CHRISTMAS, a daughter of CHRISTOPHER COLUMBUS CHRISTMAS and ELIZA
CHRISTMAS. Christopher Columbus Christmas was a son of LEWIS YANCEY
CHRISTMAS of Warrenton, NC. I can trace this line back to England and Russia with links
to the Dukes of NC, the Graves, the Yanceys, etc. NOTE: Lewis Yancey
Christmas was Caucasian, however, my great-great-grandmother, "Jinnie" was one
of his slaves with whom he had a family. I appreciate any help you could lend. Please contact me

Searching for the Parents of My GGrandfather ANDREW JACKSON FORTNER, born 1847 in What
is now Webster Co., KY.The 1900 Cleburne Co., AR. census lists his Father as being born in
Virginia and his Mother in Alabama. I don't know the County or their names. Any help will be

I am researching Ennis DODD born 7/4/1810 in VA. He married Mary E. GUINN born
1/19/1810 in VA. Ennis's parents were John P. DODD born 10/27/1784 in Franklin Co. VA and
Sarah DICKERSON born 12/23/1786 in VA. Sarah's father was Elijah DICKERSON. Ennis
had several brothers and sisters that were born in VA. Elijah, Reed, Mahala, Booker, Mary and
Leah. Any information on this family would greatly be appreciated.

VAN_VICKLE -
I am looking for any information on the VAN_VICKLE family. Absolom VAN VICKLE moved
to Franklin County, Ohio from somewhere in Virginia about 1806. I have no idea what part of
Virginia (or West Virginia) they came from. My GGG-grandfather, Evert VAN VICKLE, was
born in Virginia sometime around 1780 and also moved to Ohio in the early 1800's. I would
appreciate any information or tips on how to research this period of time. Thanks!!

MELTON, MILTON -
Searching for the parents of Josiah (b. ca. 1818) and Samuel (b. ca. 1820) Milton/
Melton who lived in Bedford Co. from at least 1850. They appear to have migrated with one
or both parents from elsewhere in Virginia. I suspect they descend from Joseph and Mary
Milton of Fluvanna County but not yet proven.
