Location: 300 yards east of US 23 and Pound Post Office on Clintwood Road.

Owners: James Mullins from 1816 to 1837; William Roberson from 1837 to about 1860; James Mullins from about 1860 to about 1900; Augustus Roberson from about 1900 to 1934; Augustus Roberson heirs since 1934.

Description: Present building is four stories high. First story contains water wheel and machinery. Second story corn mill; third story flour mill; fourth story store room.

History: From the Russell County records we find that James Mullins and Greenberry Robinson bought several thousand acres of land on Pound, Indian Creek and Bold Camp creeks in 1815. Two years later
Robinson sold his interest in the land and moved to Pike Co., KY.
     It is said that James Mullins built his home near where the Gus Roberson house now stands and that he built a mortar for beating corn into meal nearby. This was first made for his own use, but a short time later
he conceived the idea of enlarging it and operating by horsepower which he did, and people from the Pound country for miles around would come to Mullins' pound for their meal.
     Mullins continued to operate "the pound" until 1837, when he sold out to William Roberson, who moved there from Gladeville, and replaced the pound with a small water mill which was operated by himself and son, James, until the year 1875 when James Roberson employed C. Pinkney Carter, of Scott Co., to build the present mill.
     At one time this mill served a territory of some thirty miles in all directions, but recently its territory has decreased. It no longer produces flour, although the flour milling machinery is still in the building and in good repair.
